What we've done

Here are some of the things we've done since we were established in 2009:-

  • Created and promoted the Heritage Trail around the town centre.
  • Organised the town's first Gingerbread Festival in 2016, and repeated the event in 2017 and 2018.
  • Worked with local businesses to promote themselves using the theme of Gingerbread Men.
  • Run several projects for our local primary schools; including one on the history of Ormskirk Gingerbread, one on "healthy living" and another on the theme of "local environment".
  • Helped run three festivals in Coronation Park.
  • Persuaded Marks and Spencer, and Network Rail, to tidy up land in their ownership.
  • Successfully lobbied the County Council to introduce new parking and waiting restrictions near to Edge Hill University.
  • Successfully lobbied the Borough Council to refuse planning permission for a development by Edge Hill University in the green belt.
  • Produced and distributed Ormskirk's first ever Town Guide. and then produced a new edition three years later.
  • Worked with the County Council to make changes to parking restrictions in an area south of the town centre that benefits both residents and visitors.
  • Worked with the Police, Borough Council, and University to address anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
  • Organised public meetings at which outside speakers addressed issues of concern to local people.
  • Organised hustings prior to the General Election in 2015, jointly with other local organisations.
  • Produced and distributed newsletters containing information about our activities and local events
